Reservation needed from Lucerne to Rome train?

I got the S E L E C T pass and am traveling by train from Lucerne to Rome with change of train at Arth Goldau and Milan. Do I need to reserve any leg of the journey? Also, I just want to confirm that this pass is valid for travel within Switzerland(Interlaken/Zurich) and Italy(Florence/Venice) by train. Thanks.

Thanks for your help. Have you done this leg? Can I go that morning to the train ticket booth to get the reservation? the trip is in Novemeber which is the low season, I was hoping the crowds won't be bad that time of the year, so I need not reserve in advance.

If the countries on your S E L E C T pass include Switzerland and Italy, then you're covered. Reservations are required on the EC leg between Arth-Goldau and Milan and on the EuroStar Italia leg between Milan and Rome. You'll have to buy seat reservations for those legs. If you take EuroStar Italia trains from Rome to Florence and from Florence to Venice, you'll also have to buy seat reservations for those trips. You won't have to buy reservations for your rides within Switzerland.

I haven't traveled that route, but from what I've read you should have no problem getting last-minute seat reservations. However, it's always a good idea to buy tickets and/or reservations a day or two in advance, especially if you are not traveling alone and need to be sure everyone gets seats on the same train and can sit together.
