Report: How long it took me to transit Schiphol at 8:30am

I landed at the furthest D gate on a Delta flight from Seattle. It took me 20 minutes to walk to connecting flight passport control. The passport control line was just over 10 minutes. There were no EES terminals in use for non-EU passports...we went to staffed desks.

There were uniformed staff calling out imminent departure times and if your plane departed at that time, they pulled you from the line and moved you to an officer.

I was at the large shopping/ eating area at about the 35 minute mark. It was then another 10 minutes to my C gate.

Thank you. Very helpful. I will be taking same flight from SEA on Delta in a few months.
Was your final destination in Schengen Europe? Did you have to do EES there since you skipped in Amsterdam? Or not needed since you went to staffed kiosk?

The OP arrived from the US and went through passport control at Amsterdam which means her final destination was in the Schengen Zone
EES is only done at the entrance and exit points of the Schengen zone, which in this case was Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Right now. EES isn’t fully implemented yet at Amsterdam Airport, so not all non-EU passengers are directed to the EES kiosks. This doesn’t mean that it will be the same for those arriving tomorrow or next week or the week after that. As helpful as this personal account is, it’s good to realize that it’s just one data point and it doesn’t mean that your experience will be the same.

This is certainly just meant to be my own personal experience. I find these stories helpful, so I tend to post them:) It is correct...I was traveling on to Spain from Amsterdam.

I am aware that what happens today may not be the same tomorrow. Heck, even different times during the day can change.
But it is still helpful, so thank you for taking the time to come on here and share.
Have a great trip, OP!

Yes, posts like this can certainly be helpful. In the case of EES however it’s good to know that by April 10, 2026 it must be fully operational. So while poster Wanderlust who travels in a few days, may be lucky and have the same experience as you, it’s a different matter for someone, like Joy, who only travels in a few months. They will have to go through the EES process and if the situation at Schiphol in the last years is anything to go by it could get messy with long lines etc.
