Hi all- We are renting a car to drive all of Ireland, countryside of England (Bath and Cotswolds) and Tuscany in Italy. Are there better companies than others to rent from? I hear hertz in Ireland is particularly bad. Does not have to be from the same company. Thanks!!!
Aubrey, try Dan Dooley for Eire. When you say "all of Ireland," are you including the north too?
Afraid not. I think the farthest north we will reach is Galway. There is always trip #2!
Thanks for the info of Dan Dooley- Saved me $30-150!
You might also try Irish Car Rentals or Budget.
Hi Aubrey.
I only have experience in Tuscany, but we had a deal that could not be beat from http://www.gemut.com. (An Oregon company, BTW.) They contract with different carriers and serve all of Europe. Gemut beat AutoEurope and Hertz in my case, but ironically they booked us with Hertz through AutoEurope. Offer 24x7 English language service, and very personal service too.
"Afraid not. I think the farthest north we will reach is Galway." That is good, one less issue to have to sort through with a rental.
Aubrey, get quotes from Autoeurope.com, Autoeurope.eu, and Autoeurope.UK. You will be surprised at the difference in prices. (many times EU and UK are the similar) Autoeurope and Gemut are wonderful brokers that use all of the majors. The EU and UK quotes sometmes include other vendors that the US site. Last year the best quote that AE provided for us was through Hertz. I refused Hertz, and they found another vendor for slightly more money. AE.eu and .UK quotes sometimes include complete insurance coverage, and can still offer you tremendous savings.
