I am living in Munich and trying to plan for some visitors coming at the end of June. I want to rent a car to take folks through the southern parts of Germany over a couple days. But... no one in the group can drive a manual car.
Questions:
1. Are there any search engines that allow you to look for only automatic cars?
2. Does anyone know a cheap car company for automatics?

As an aside, we didn't pay any extra for GPS but the car already had it built in (some sort of Mercedes A series). As an embarrassing aside to the aside, we'd never used a GPS before that trip and it took us 2 days to figure out what it was.
Any of the major auto rental agencies websites should let you know what's available in automatic. Sixt in particular maintains a large fleet of automatics in Munich.
Michele,also check with Auto Europe. They are based in Maine and are very helpful, especially when you get them on the phone.
But you can use their website to check the prices from your point A to point B location, and to get the actual cost for your automatic car. Then compare them with others.
Keep in mind that you will probably pay a hefty surcharge to pick up at an airport versus in town.

Check out AutoEurope and EuropebyCar online. Once you receive a quote online from EuropeByCar, call autoeurope and ask them if they can beat EuropebyCar's (or any other car rental company) quote. They are usually willing to bargain. Make sure you request quotes for an automatic, diesel car. When reserving the car, request an automatic. On a previous trip, I picked up a car at the train station. It was an easy location to get to and out of. Have fun on your trip!
