We needed an 8 passenger van for our April trip in France. Only available was from Europcar, which we reserved months in advance. Upon pick up, van had not been cleaned inside or out, front headlight did not work, window was held partially closed by bungee cord, deep dents on both sides and front and back, but did run well. On return home on May 4th, sent complaint to Europcar, which they said they would answer within 5 days. Sent second e-mail complaint and to date have never received any response. Would not rent again from them.
And hopefully you documented all of that before you drove away with it.
Have they charged you for the damage?
No, they did not charge us for the damage. We had taken out the full insurance, took pictures of the damage before we left their rental lot, and had the attendant at CDG Europcar's lot write down the additional damage we saw on the car and sign the rental agreement before we ever left their lot.
