In the Dordogne section of the France book, Rick says that you can rent a moped in Sarlat, yet he only lists bike and car rentals. I checked the websites of both and don't see anything about mopeds, but would really like to explore this option. Does anyone have experience renting a moped there, or even seeing them available? I'm curious about prices as well as actually riding a moped.. I've never done it before.

I think you will find the rentals under scooters and motorcycles. Technically speaking, I think mopped refers to a motorized bicycles and the scooters are small engine, sit upright style of motorcycle -- Vespa is the best example. But the term may be used interchangeable with moped. However, if you have never driven one, I don't think this is the time or place to learn. On one of the Steves' DVD he comments on the high injury rate of tourists on scooters -- I think one of the Greek Isle DVDs.
