We are traveling to Scotland this summer and will be renting a car. There will be 4 of us, all adults. I've been looking at the car rental possibilities and have many questions. One place I searched, easyCar.com, came up with several rentals with a company called Green Motion. They are considerably cheaper than the other companies and seem to have nice cars. I see they rent in the southern US, but don't know how reliable they are. We will be renting a car for two weeks, so it's important to get a good deal, but also for it to be reliable. Thanks.
Avoid
The most complained about car hire firm.

and there’s more, much more on Tripadvisor.
Thank you. That is very helpful. I was just looking at a site called Auto Europe. It also compares prices across the board of several of the car rental dealers. The prices they quote are much cheaper than the prices listed when I go directly to a site, such as enterprise. Do I trust that?
If a car rental firm offers cars significantly cheaper than the competitors then that's a clear signal to avoid.
I've used Ryanair Cars before with no problems, they're actually a consolidator rather than a rental agency and their prices are consistently cheaper whilst using the main companies such as Hertz, Budget etc. I've also had good experience with Rentalcars.com, again another consolidator and often with good discounts.
I generally use gemut.com for all my European car rentals. Or at least I try them first -- if they can't find something decent, I will look elsewhere, but for Europe I've always had very good experiences with them for bookings from from Scotland to Croatia Lithuania and beyond (although for rentals in other parts of the world, Mexico, Japan, Australia, etc., I did better on my own - they specialize in Europe). They work with AutoEurope and others and have good, US-based customer service.
No affiliation with them, just a satisfied customer.
AutoEurope, Gemut, and Kemwel are all reputable consolidators. If you are interested in a consolidator, look at all three; even though Kemwel and AutoEurope are now owned by the same company, they can have different prices.
When comparing, be sure you are looking at apples and apples, with things such as insurance coverage, deductibles, and items excluded from the insurance (such as tires and windshields).
