Renting a car from the Euroairport Mulhouse near Basel on either the French or Swiss side.

My research seems to indicate that if you plan to travel through Germany with a rental car that the Swiss side is better. Their cars are authorized for the low emission areas in Germany and other countries, whereas the French cars are only good for the French low emission areas. Is this still the case? Is this this why they are more expensive or just because everything it is Swiss?

Cars on the Swiss side include a Swiss vignette (toll sticker attached), so you can drive on Swiss motorways.

Thank you for answering. Do you know about the emission issue I talked about? I can avoid Switzerland for driving but most of my driving will be in Germany and through some low emission zones in Germany. I could try to avoid those areas and take an alternate route but not my first choice.
