We will be in Provence June 15-23- Is the best way to rent a car here in the US and is there a better site to rent from? Do we need to get all the extra insurance stuff as we are from USA? Thanks!

It is almost always a better idea to make arrangements before you leave. As far as who to rent from you will have to research that and I'm sure many people will give their opinion here. Eurocar seems to be an excellent choice. Rick reccomends getting the extra insurance stuff. I follow his advise for my own piece of mind. Enjoy!

I have always used Auto Europe. They are a consolidator and find the best deals from amongst the various companies. I have gotten cars from Hertz, Avis, Europcar and Budget. When you rent through Auto Euope you pay in U.S. $ and it is easy to change or cancel your reservation if necessary. You can get full insurance through them, or you can get coverage on your own, whether it is credit card coverage, included in travel insurance, or some other way. Can you drive a car with a manual transmission? You may find it difficult, and much more expensive, to rent an automatic.
