Rental Car in Scotland---Requirements

If I am a fully licensed driver in the United States, do I need to get an International Driving Permit, when renting a car in Scotland?

Probably not since you have an "Ehglish speaking" driver's license. But check with the rental company. They are ones who decide that unless there is a national requirement.

From Arnold Clark Rental Agency:
"Drivers from outside the EU must possess a valid domestic driving licence with an English translation. If the English translation is not available, an international driving permit is required in addition to a domestic driving licence." https://www.arnoldclarkrental.com/faq

We rented from Arnold Clark in 2019. Just needed to show our US license (licence) and our passport.

I used Arnold Clark in June and my DL was all that was needed.
