We will be taking the train to Frieburg from Wengen and intend to pick up a car, one hotel source says we can drive to Rothenburg od (3hrs). We would like to see the Romantic Road and spend 2 days in Rothenburg. Does it make sense to go to Rothenburg od directly--or to Fussen directly, Ludwigs Castle--spend night , go to Munich and then back to RR- to Rothenburg od? 5 days from Frieburg we fly out from Frankfurt.we would like to go to Rhine area also. Are you talking about Freiburg, the city in Germany just north of Basel? It would make more sense to take the train to the Bodensee area (Konstanz, Singen, Lindau). From there you can either rent a car or take public transportation to Füssen, then go to Munich and Rothenburg odT. From Rothenburg to the Rhein. I think that will take your time; the RR is probably not worth pushing you schedule.
