Has anyone rented a car in Austria? I think it might be one of the best countries to rent a car due to it's incredible scenery & mountain passes. we're thinking of starting in Innsbruck and migrating over to Vienna. Any idea on taking the car into Czech Republic? I think the rental companies might frown on that... Any comments are greatly appreciated!!

When I rented a car several years ago, both the rental car company AND Visa asked if I was planning to take the car to any formet Soviet bloc countries. Visa asked because of their CDW coverage. Rules may have changed, but check with both your rental company and your credit card company first. They will provide you with the best answers. You didn't say where you would return the car, but most rental companies charge a hefty fee for returning a car in another country.
