My wife and I found a terrific deal that we wanted to share.
We were in Naples and needed to get up to the Tuscany region on a Sunday. As expected, most rental car companies were closed on Sundays up in Tuscany region so rather than take a train from Naples up to Tuscany, we rented a compact car through Auto Europe (Enterprise) in Naples and dropped it off in Florence 6 days later after driving all over the hill towns around Tuscany and Umbria. We added on the addition CDW insurance and when we were done the total cost was $143 (US dol)......and that included the one-way drop off charge up in Florence. That's actually cheaper what it would have cost us to take a Trenitalia train for 2 up to Florence......and we had a car to tour Tuscany for almost a week......and we got to enjoy the pretty drive up through Italy from Naples.
One challenge that we did encounter was dropping the car off in Florence at the Enterprise Excelsior Parking Garage location. Google Maps got us to within a few hundred meters of the drop off garage when we found that the street that we had to drive on to get there was a red ZTL road. After some frustrating phone calls to Enterprise to figure out how to drop off the car, we called our hotel and asked them to help us figure out what to do. They contacted Enterprise who said that it was ok to drive up through the ZTL because they would be the ones to receive the ZTL notice and that they would just toss it as it was part of our drop off.
Hope that this helps some folks.
