Is it feasible (cost-wise) to rent a car in Portugal, drive to Spain for a week and return it again to Portugal? I wasn't sure if rental companies allow a car to cross country borders. Thanks for any advice!
There are no Spain-Portugal restrictions (from the major companies at least). I've done it in both directions. The only restrictions I've encountered are when going into parts of eastern europe and onto the islands in the Med (except Corsica, Sardenia, and Sicily).
When we checked into this, the cost was prohibitive due to the two countries. We ended up taking a cheap airline instead.
Don't know where Cindy checked, but the cost of renting in Portugal, driving into Spain, and returning to Portugal, is exactly the same as if you never left Portugal. There is absolutely no restriction or additional cost incurred by going into Spain.
Autoeurope's only "country" exclusions are eastern Europe & Africa.
I believe Cindy did not read the question carefully.
Drive from one to the other AND BACK? No problemo.
