I bought a RENFE ticket online from Madrid to Salamanca and it gave me the option of selecting a particular seat for 5 euros extra. I selected an available seat, saw it when I paid and paid through Paypal. The RENFE email confirmation shows the price paid with the extra 5 euros as does Paypal confirmation that was emailed. The RENFE pdf ticket attached to the email confirmation does not show any seat selection and shows a price of 17 euros which was the price before I paid 5 extra to pick the seat. Every other detail is on there and correct. I can't find anywhere on the RENFE site to try to confirm with the locator number. Does this mean I don't have the seat I picked even though I was charged extra?

The ticket will show the ticket price. Did you get a separate reservation confirmation?

The ticket showed the lower price and my confirmations from RENFE and Paypal via email showed the higher reserved seating price. I reached out to RENFE via FB messenger and they said their system shows the lower price was paid but I still have a seat reservation, which is good. But they also wrote that I will have to file a claim if I was overcharged and visit a ticket office if I want to get another ticket. I also have to get an additional ticket for the ride from the airport to charmartin printed out at the box office even though my ticket says the ticket covers that part of the journey. Maybe I've lost something in translation?

Do you know which seat you have? In that case I would not bother doing anything further. Just board your train, take your seat and travel.
