Making plans for visiting the Champagne region for a two-night stay this fall. Thoughts on taking the train from CDG terminal (mid morning arrival) to Reims, renting a car in Reims for exploring/touring both Reims and Epernay, then taking the train to Paris for a planned stay without a car. Other thought was to rent and return from CDG. We have not traveled in France so are unfamiliar with navigating transportation options. Additionally, any lodging recommendations in Reims and Epernay? Thank you!

We stayed in the village of Ay which is adjacent to Epernay. It is a charming village but all of Epernay is quite pleasant. We had a rental car for touring this area as well as other parts of France.

In 2019, we stayed at the Best Western Premier Hotel de la Paix in Reims. Perfect location, impressive breakfast. It's currently the #3 Reims hotel on Trip Advisor.
