Can we get from Annecy to Tours using regional trains or buses?
What I am trying to say is that we don't want to have to travel back to Paris to get to Tours. I figured there had to be some sort of regional or local trains or buses and I was just trying to confirm that. Also, that it's not a huge ordeal to do that. Thanks!
As opposed to any portion of the trip being on TGV? Yes, there's at least one route/day with coach/Intercitiés. I'm not sure I completely understand the question, though...
Ruth, It would be very, very hard and long, like a few days! Most everything radiates out of Paris, like the spokes of a wheel. You will have to go back through Paris by train or see if there is a flight from Geneva.
Deutsche Bahn site shows 2 likely canditates. A bus/train route with a change at Lyon Part-Dieu leaving 9 am, arriving 6 pm, and a bus/bus route with a change at Lyon Part-Dieu leaving at 1 pm and arriving at 8:30 pm. So these ways avoids Paris. These show "not every day" on the schedule, but the second option is about the same time as a TGV connection through Paris (with a 50 minute change from Gare de Lyon to Gare Montparnesse). Probably less money too.
Thank you much. So I guess we will head back Paris.
You wouldn't be able to make a 50 minute change between those two stations in Paris either. At least I was wrong about it taking days.
