Refund for Cost of Choosing Seats When Flight Cancelled

Does anyone know how long it takes on average to get a refund for the money you spent to reserve seats when your flight has been cancelled, specifically for Lufthansa?

My flight was cancelled on July 20 and when I called on July 21 the Lufthansa agent stating I would be getting a refund. This would be for the cancelled portion of our flight, so $80--two seats at $40 each.

I also want a refund for the seat assignments I paid for the other part of my flight since Lufthansa took away our tickets. The system seems to think we still have these seats assigned to us even though we no longer have tickets. Lufthansa seems to be so messed up I don't know if they even know this.

If I know what is a reasonable time to get the refund, I can wait until that before calling Lufthansa again.

If it has not appeared on the second billing cycle statement after the cancellation, is when I would get on their case again.

In the meantime I would find out what the time frame is for the credit card to initiate a 'dispute' and seek a charge back refund, so you do not loose that option, if things go sideways with Lufthansa.

Checking with the airline to obtain the timeframe for refunds may also be helpful.

In late July, I canceled a refundable flight on Lufthansa. The refund for seat reservations was back on my card in 3-4 calendar days, and the refund for the ticket was back on my card in around 7 calendar days. The agent told me it could take up to 7 business days for the refund to post. Did your agent happen to tell you how long it would take for your refund to post?

That would be great but unfortunately this is Lufthansa. I have called them many times about the error they made in accidentally refunding me my tickets. They have no answer except "buy new tickets." When I tried sending an email to their customer service explaining how they had refunded my tickets in error and I wanted to pay for them, they said they would forward my concern to their refund unit to see if I qualified for a refund on my tickets. (I don't need a refund, they have already credited my account. I need tickets.)

So, in reference to getting a date when I will get a refund for the charge for choosing my seats, I do not hold out much hope since I am not even sure if they understand the situation.

I will try again, maybe just asking how much they show they are refunding me and where they are in the refund queue.
