Reference to new booking

Yesterday i found a holday on travelrepublic, for me and my partner,we went ahead and booked it we paid a deposit off £239 which covered the flights, and left a remaining balance of £800.The travel agent gave us a reference number for our flights, acommadation and transfers. When she gave us our flight reference number it started with EUF119 etc, i was confused as if it was an easy jet flight it would of started with EZY OR EZY the operator could not tell me what EUF stood for,so we left it at that, anyway the next day we woke and we needed to change the flight details for different dates,so we rang up the operator and he gave us new dates at an adminstration fee of £60(fair-enough) and straight away gave us our flights which did start whith( EXAMPLE) EZY409 which is a flight number..........so my question is do i need to pay £60 for admin fees as clearly the previous day we never had a flight number just a reference number starting EUF119 etc?

Are the admin fees in fact change fees for a new flight schedule, or a fee above and beyond the change fee? Check the exact terms of the holiday booking you made (the small print), including change fees. Travel agents are not worth their cost if you are still left confused and they cannot answer simple questions. You should be very clear when you make a booking as to what it would cost you to make changes and whether any extra fees are involved when you make the changes online vs. talking to a live agent. If the admin fee is not clear, I would clear it up with them - ask exactly what value you're getting from this fee. If they gave you no documentation for the flight, then you have leverage because you were not given the contract terms you need to make a decision. In the US, I am fairly sure you have 24 hours to make changes to a flight reservation with no fees involved - I don't know what the UK laws are.

This is very helpfull i shall look into this.
But when i booked this flight the first time there was no flight number, only on the second time when we changed the flight dates, and gave the agent the prefered times and dates which we looked up he then gave us a flight number, after we paid him an extra £60 admin fee plus an extra £100 as the flights did go up in price,we were the ones that found the best rates as he could only look at 1 flight at a time,we had access to look at them all.

Was there no way to modify your booking directly on the website? Did it say to call an agent in order to make modifications? It sounds like you were not provided confirmation info to your booking in a timely way because you're dealing with a third party - but even third parties should be able to give you this info within a few hours (as soon as the booking transaction goes through with the airline and the airline assigns a flight booking code). I would say to book directly with an airline next time (or at least online where you are sure to receive a proper airline number) and read all the fine print. There is definitely a cost to changing your mind but if you want to minimize fees it's best to book direct and just deal with the airline, not a third party/travel agent. I hope you get a clear confirmation that your original booking has now been cancelled.

It sounds to me like this "agent" is looking out for his back pocket - not yours.

I've never heard of travelrepublic but who knows... there's always another out there.

Given how absolutely trivial it is to book Easyjet flights either by computer or using the app did you need the "agent"?

Thanks i guess you never really need an agent, but you always feel more at ease and if there is a problem that occurs,a third party makes you feel secure.

Kind regards

Lee.

A third party offers very little security, if something goes wrong the airline will direct you to deal with the third party. That puts another layer of potential mistakes into the mix.

I haven't used a travel agent in 30+ years, and while there is a learning curve in doing it yourself, once you figure it out, the world is yours.

If you are British, did you have ATOL protection?
