Just flew back from MXP on Emirates Sept. 19th, and wife and I were allowed to use the fast security lines at the airport. I suspect that it's because Emirates also participates in the Trusted Traveler Program, and our numbers must have been encoded in the bar code on the ticket. I had the same experience when I flew out of MXP in May, which I thought was a fluke. This time, the attendant just looked at our tickets and waved us through.
Finally, (and oddly) when we went through PC at MXP, other than the officers, there was no one in the non-EU lanes-just us 3 Americans; full moon?
Do you mean you got to go through the TSA Pre Check lane (it would actually say TSA PRE on your boarding pass) here in the US? Or were you flying business class and got to use the business/first lane? If you are saying the expedited lanes at MXP, that has nothing to do with anything the US issued to you -- Trusted traveler means nothing outside the US.
And most people when they use a term like "received the TSA Treatment" usually means they were separated out for additional screening and the grabby body check.
Jerry, I too am somewhat confused. MXP=Milan Malpensa Airport. The TSA is US government, unless the US has annexed Italy and nobody has told me, there is no TSA in Milan. "Trusted Traveler Program" is also US-only.
Probably just Emirates paying for this. Were you business class?
And what is "PC at MXP"?
I just 15 min ago went through a Pre Check line in the US. I was not required to take off shoes, belt, pull out lap top or show liquid bag. There were no bins if you had. Just tossed the back pack on the conveyor belt and walked through. The standard lane had a posted 16 min wait, I had 0 min. Amazing and appreciated.
Chris,
And what is "PC at MXP"?
I may be incorrect, but I think the OP means Passport Control.
I had trouble thinking he was politically correct with My Ex Partner and why that was an issue. Now I feel so enlightened knowing he might have meant passport control with My Ex-Partner. Right...? Or am I still confused by the overuse of initials?
Not business class, just economy comfort. Was trying to say that my experience was exactly as if I was going through security screening having TSA Pre on my boarding pass and that Emirates is also a participant in the Trusted Traveler Program.
As far as the dreaded SSSS on a boarding pass, my wife did have that, however, she went through a q and then she and all others selected were pre-boarded. Finally, PC is passport control.
Whether Emirates is part of the trusted traveler program is completely irrelevant in Milan and ALL non-US airports.
Absolutely "irrevalant," continental, just posting my experience so that others with the U.S. status can see if they can experience the same thing-I know I will on my next trip as I travel this route 2-3 times a year.
