Re:Trentitalia not recognizing Firenze as stop from Vernazza??

Hi,
I am doing a little preplanning of my train schedule. The DB bahn site indicates that a train travels from Vernazza to Florence on Oct. 1, 2009 many times in the morning but the Trenitalia site won't recognize Firenze SMN as a valid entry for a station. I have also tried Monterosso, La Spezia with similar results. The site will accept Vernazza to Rome?? I am just making sure that a train will travel in the morning since I need to book museum passes for that day in Florence. Anyone have any ideas?

The Trenitalia site only shows complete timetables up to 60 days in advance for domestic routes. Enter 24 September and you'll get all the departure times and routes.

Tim,
Thanks much! I will give that a try later on.

The website tells me for my arrival station " there is no station that meets your arrival criteria". It is Firenze SMN and it just won't accept it no matter what date I put in. HMMMMM.

For traveling in Italy, I suggest the Italian train website (www.trenitalia.com). Tim is correct that you are looking too far out. CLICK HERE for the July 30 morning schedule from Vernazza to Florence. Don't worry. The schedules vary very little as the Trenitalia schedules get more accurate as the 60-day window approaches. I really enjoy playing on the Trenitalia website but it does have its quirks.

As a side note, Vernazza does not get as many trains in and out as does Monterosso or Riomaggiore. Still, they run about once an hour. Also, most runs will be on Regionale (R) trains. No seat reservations permitted. First come, first served. Just like a city bus.

Thanks. I will not worry about it then. It seemed bizarre! I will take another look at it in about a month. mary

While Larry got full timetables for 30 July with several morning departures, I just entered 3 August and got one departure at 05:01 and nothing more until 12:44. There must be a glitch on the site. Hopefully it's temporary. At any rate, what you get for 30 July on the Trenitalia site and what you get for 1 October on the DB site should be the same since they are both weekdays. Check it out and see.

On the Trenitalia site you can simply enter Firenze. You don't need S.M.N.
