Re: Train and accomodation before taking bernina express

Hello everyone. My husband and I are on our first trip overseas. We can only get there in winter which isnt all bad. Just cold. Anyway I really want to take him on the bernina express before we go on the golden pass tour. WE will be in Venice prior to the Bernina express.

Can anyone tell me how to get from Venice to tirano without a car. Also if the timetables dont permit change over can we stay a night in Torino. Is there anywhere to stay there. I have no idea. I cant find anything but I am sure there is something. We need the people to speak english a bit.

The best site for detailed train timetables for most of Europe is the German Rail site. After you get summary timetables for Venezia Santa Lucia-Tirano, cliok on "Details for all" to see the connecting points.

You can get both timetables and fares on the Trenitalia site.

You'll find that your fastest and simplest route is Venezia-Milano-Tirano.

I used the Deutsch Bahn and found all sorts of trains you could take and connection info then I went to tripadvisor.com for hotels. Rick even has the Deutsch Bahn link in his "favorite links" above, probably also tripadvisor.
