Railway construction - train partially cancelled?

I was booking a trip on the City Night Line from Zurich to Prague and noticed this warning:

CNL40470: Dresden Hbf - Decin hl.n.: Construction work. The train is cancelled between Dresden Hbf and Decin hl.n.. Please check your itinerary again shortly before departure.

How does this work? Would we disembark in Dresden and need to find our own way to Prague? Or would the railway transport us via bus or something else between Dresden and Decin? I'm just trying to figure out if this is a substantial problem or just a minor hiccup.

Generally bus transportation is provide around construction zones. Have no idea about your particular question.

andrea.

If you have to switch to a Bus in the wee hours of the morning, you likely won't have the most "restful" trip.

What is the date so I can look it up on the Bahn website?

Looks like that train gets into Dresden at just after 7 AM, so it won't be the wee hours.

The date is March 23, 2016. 7am doesn't sound too bad. We like overnight train trips more than the average person, and flights are looking really expensive for that day, likely because of the Easter weekend?

Hi,

I had this experience twice in the trip this past June, once in the eastern Germany and once in the western. No, you don't need to find your own way to Prague, that 's taken care for you. Board the train, when it comes time to get off to transfer to the bus , everyone will be doing it. The bus is already there waiting to take you to Prague. I did this from Schwerin to Ludwigslust by bus, then train to Berlin Hbf.

I would suggest that you keep looking at the Bahn website as the date approaches. It's over three months away right now. Normally in a case like this they will show the "Product" as "CNL, Bus" and then show the bus as an SEV (Schienen Ersatz Verkehr = replacement transportation) on the route detail. I would expect that to be shown well before the travel date.

Interesting to note that the corresponding Prague to Zürich train goes through that same area in the evening, after work hours, and the same message is not posted.

I would expect the transportation from Decin to Prague, because of the time of day, to be by regular coach, not sleeping cars.
