My husband and I are in a similar situation as the person who posted before us, however, we are both 29 and not eligible for the discount for being 26 or younger for a eurail pass. We are going to be in Europe from Sept. 4-28th and will be traveling to Amsterdam-Belgium-France-Spain,Switzerland-Italy-Croatia-Austria and Germany. We'd like to know if it is better to go with a Global Pass for 15 days since we will stay at least 2 days in some of the countries, 3-4 in others OR travel by local trains from destination to destination? Also-if we do use the Euro-rail pass does it cover any off the beaten path stops within a country or does it only work for the main rail lines from major cities? Thank you so much!
Cierra, Wow! I consider myself someone who enjoys what some on this board would consider a fast paced trip, however it looks to me like you're outdoing me! I count 8 countries in 24 days. That averages out to 3 days per country. You're going to be covering an enormous amount of ground. If you truly stick to this itinerary my guess is that you will get your money's worth out of a global pass as you will be covering long distances, however you have 24 days in Europe and the 15 days is consecutive. You can wait to validate your pass the day you leave for your second destination and have it be good through your arrival at your last destination, however I doubt that will cover you. Are you sure you don't need a 21 day pass?
