Railpass for Dummies -- Travel days

I am sure I read the answer to this (somewhere), and I am sure it has been dealt with on these boards, but here is my question:

If you are using a 3 country Select pass and you jouney between two of the countries on the same day (not overnight) does that use one day or two?

Specifically, if we travel from Florence or Milan to Bern in one day, how many days do we use?

You can travel as much as you want on as many trains as you can on your selected day of travel with a valid pass.

A day counts as a day regardless of how many of the countries you travel to during that day. In your scenario you would use 1 day.
