RailEurope vs. DB Bahn - why so different?

Please help me understand the difference between RailEurope.com and bahn.de. I am looking to purchase a twin (for 2 adults) German Rail Pass for 6 days, 2nd Class. The price on RailEurope is $480 but the price on Bahn.de is $332.

Also, seat reservations for one train trip on RailEurope are $22 for both of us, but the bahn.de website says that most seat reservations in Germany should be only 4 Euro if we have a valid railpass. Do they use different trains or something? What am I missing?

Thanks!

The German Rail ticket on the Bahn website is 332 Euro, which today is about $470+. Rail passes are one of the few things that RE sells that are not a complete rip-off (except in most cases passes themselves are not a good deal).

A €4 reservation would be about $5.60. That's still half of what RE charges, but then, they are a reseller.

I agree with Michael. Get your reservations online from the Bahn, or better yet, over there. I have seen a few "packed" trains, but never one with all the seats reserved.

The DB site is quoting you a price in Euros, Rail Europe's price is in US Dollars. When you make the currency conversion, the price is more or less the same.

For seat reservations, Rail Europe does charge more. You're better off using the DB site, or waiting until you arrive in Germany.

Thanks for all of the help! I can't believe I didn't catch the fact that bahn.de was in Euro. I guess I had a blonde moment! I will definitely book through bahn.de.
