RailEurope Reservation Price

I think I need to make rail reservations through RailEurope. Looking through their website, the price for a couchette reservation in T6 for the night train from Vienna to Florence costs 102USD. Isn't this a little ridiculous? Its almost as much as buying the point to point ticket! What's up? :(

According to the Euraide site, the in-Europe passholder's price for reserving a T6 bunk is 25€. For a T4 bunk it is 35€.

How long will you be in Austria before traveling to Florence? Night trains can sell out, but if you have enough lead time you could wait until you get to Austria to make the reservation. To play it safe, you could phone the Austrian rail call center and see if you can book reservations through them. Dial your international access code + 43 1 93000-0.

Thanks Tim. The prices for other trains seem much more realistic. For example, for Berlin to Munich, the Euraide price is 30Euros, and the raileurope price is 47.5USD, which seems fair enough. I was just wondering why the high price for Vienna - Florence then?

I'll call in to Austria then. Thanks Tim!

"why the high price for Vienna - Florence"?

It's called charging what the market will bear - one of the wonderful advantages of the "free market system".
