Rail travel London-Portsmouth and Porto-Lisbon

My husband & I will be in London for a few days in October and want to take the train down to Portsmouth for a day. We will also be going by rail from Porto, Portugal to Lisbon. The last time I used a Eurail Pass and BritRail Pass was when I backpacked around Europe at 19 -- in 1979. When I checked the Eurail site, am I seeing it correctly that I just need one pass for both places? And is it worth it for a roundtrip London to Portsmouth, and a one way trip from Porto to Lisbon? Are their senior discounts? With such an excess of information on the internet now, vs. just books and travel agents in 1979, I'm becoming very confused about how to do things.

For a senior discount for trains in Britain you need to get a Senior Railcard which costs money - probably not worth it for only a single journey but might be worth it if you are planning to do several train trips in Britain.
