My husband and I will be traveling to Ireland in Mid September. Any advice on the best (fastest/cost effective) transportation between cities in Ireland? For instance, we will be traveling from Dublin to Galway and then Galway to Dingle. I was thinking of taking Irish Rail from Dublin to Galway. What type of ticket should I purchase? From Galway to Dingle I read there is a Ferry I could take to the closest town next to Dingle. Is this something you all would recommend? I was trying to avoid driving in Ireland if possible. Thanks!

The ferry I think you are referring to is a car ferry across the River Shannon. You, however, will most likely need to travel by bus, and I think those go around through Limerick. There is very little rail transportation in the west, so it's either bus or rental car.
