Rail travel from La Spezia to Rome

I have read a lot of the recommendations and information concerning the rail travel in Italy. I shall be in Cinque Terre at the beginning of September, leaving for Rome on the 7th Sept. Should I book the rail ticket now or leave it till I am in Cinque Terre? Thank you Jennifer

Thanks a lot Steve. I was afraid that seats could be sold out for the midday train to Rome.
