Rail transportation Austria to Paris

My daughter (2 people) will be in Austria 7 days, and then want to take the train to Paris. What is the best choice:Euro -pass or regional pass (Austria-Germany) or Austria pass + point-to-point from Salzburg to Paris?
Can we use a Germany/Austria regional pass for Austria, change trains in Germany on the way to Paris, or since we are going to Paris, is that included in the regional pass?

If you are going to Paris, a railpass would have to include France. That would make it a Sel'ct Eurail pass, only in 1st cl. However, a point-point ticket might be your best option here. Freilassing is just across the river from Salzburg, a €2,10 ticket. If you can commit to a date and time, you can get an advance purchase Europa-Spezial ticket in 2nd class from Freilassing to Paris for as low as €39 pP.

Thanks. I will look that up--that sounds very inexpensive.--

Understand that those discounted tickets are only for sale online from the German Rail website. They require at least three days advance purchase but can be purchase 92 days in advance and it is advisable to purchase them as soon as you can commit because the price is tiered. When the lowest price tickets sell out, the price goes up. They are train (date and time) specific and have only limited refundability. The journey has to start or end in Germany, which is why it can not start in Salzburg. Up date: I just noticed that Europa-Spezial ticket can now go from Salzburg to a place outside of Germany. Maybe enough Germans had figured out the Freilassing-for-Salzburg trick that they just decided to include Salzburg. However, note, you cannot go from Salzburg to Vienna.
