First leg, Munich Fughafen to Salzburg best price is to buy a 2 person Bayern ticket out of the vending machine at the airport station for 28 euro. Take any S-bahn to Munich Ost and change to Meridian train to Salzburg.

Second leg, Salzburg to Wien can be bought on board any Westbahn train. Check out www.westbahn.at

Third leg, Wien to Praha hl.n. at www.oebb.at. I think you have your date wrong. While you are there, you can check their Sparpreis ticket using the Railjet train for Salzburg-Wien.

The latter two legs both can be bought online and both at OEBB, if you're ready to lock in specific departures. An optional seat assignment may still cost a few euros extra. Westbahn is a recent private competitor to the national railway, if you want to check price and schedule options from them.

For Munich airport to Salzburg, there is no need for an advance purchase e-ticket. Purchase a Bayern-Ticket, 28€ for two people, that day from an automat in the airport S-Bahn station or upstairs at the counter for 2€ more. Take the S-8 to München Ost station and catch the next RE (track 8) to Salzburg. The Bayern-Ticket will cover you all the way.

As far as Salzburg to Vienna, try OeBB or Westbahn. You can also purchase a Savings Fare ticket to Vienna in advance now on the German Rail site. Just put in Freilassing to Wien. A Savings-Fare ticket will probably be 29€ for one person. Don't worry about the Freilassing to Salzburg part. They never check tickets; it's a short ride. If they do, show them the Savings-Fare ticket.

I'm not sure about Austrian Rail or WestBahn, but you can now book tickets on the Bahn through the end of April.

BTW, if you are willing to make some allowance for a late arrival (like not going to Salzburg until afternoon), you can advance book a connection all the way to Vienna with a long stopover (40 hours) in Salzburg. Then it will be one Savings-Fare ticket. For instance, book a 14:24 departure from MUC and a 40 hour stopover in Salzburg. That will have you leaving München Ost on a RailJet at 15:18 and getting into Salzburg at 17:02. According to the vor- und nach-Lauf provision of the Bahn, you can take any S-Bahn from the airport to Ost, on the same route, that morning (after midnight). Spend 40 hours (2 nights) in Salzburg and leave for Vienna on the RJ at 9:08 on the 31st, getting to Vienna at 11:30. Total fare is 34€. Hint: if you want to stop in Marienplatz for a few hours on the way to Ost, be sure to make your first stopover Muenchen Hbf (or Marienplatz) for no time, then Salzburg for 40:00.

Bayern ticket is good only in Bavaria, or the special cases of Salzburg Hbf or Kufstein which are right over the border.

If you go by regional train from Salzburg to Attnang-Puchheim, then by train (regional only choice available) from Attnang-Puchheim via Bad Ischl to Hallstatt, travel will be covered by an Einfach-Raus-Ticket (Austrian equivalent of the Bayern-Ticket), 33€ for 2 people.

I'm pretty sure the Einfach-Raus-Ticket doesn't cover regional buses in Austria, but the bus tickets for two from Salzburg to Hallstatt are probably similarly priced to the Einfach-Raus.

Update: According to the Salzburg Verkehr website, the bus fare from Salzburg Hbf to Bad Ischl is 10,50€ per person, and Bad Ischl to Lahn (Hallstatt bus terminal) is 5,20€ per person. According to OEBB.AT, the train fare from Bad Ischl to Hallstatt is 4,40€ per person. I don't know if that includes the boat across the lake from Hallstatt Bahnhof to the town.

If i sum up for a return fare for 2, it would be quite hefty to get to hallstat from salzburg and back.

As Lee said, an Einfach-Raus ticket will get 2 of you a round trip for 33 euro.
It is best on a Saturday or Sunday, when you are not restricted to traveling after 9 am.
Week days, you will not have much time in Hallstatt unless you finesse the Einfach-Raus ticket by buying 2 one-way tickets to Attnang-Pucheim, where you normally change trains to get to Hallstatt. Leaving Salzburg at 7:44, the train to Hallstatt departs at 9:15 and you are now good for the rest of the day on the Einfach-Raus ticket. That will add another 30 euro on to the 33 euro.

Hi Lee,
I checked on the web, and i didnt saw any discounted price from Salzburg to Wien Westbahnof.

It cost a hefty 116euro for 2 person (using http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/) and from wien westbahof to praha hl.n it stated 126.40euro (using ticketing.oebb.at)

instead i checked westbahn.at, it cost 49.80euro for 2 adult without a reservation of seat. is reservation of seat necessary because it an extra 10euro.

Am i missing anyting?
