Hello, travelers, Can y'all help me figure out the least expensive way to do this? We have one adult, one teen, and one 11 year old traveling in Germany - 4 days in one month and 8 in the next. Can we buy a "twin" pass for the adult and teen, even though less than 26 years old? Is it better to buy a 2 country pass (eg Germany and Austria) so that we can get a 10-days-in-2-months pass, rather than a 4-day and another 8-day? Thanks for your guidance!
There is nothing to prevent a youth from using a twin pass. You don't have to use a youth pass if you are <26, you just can't use on if you are older. I don't think the German Rail goes by calendar month for rail passes, but by 28 day period. So, you can probably get just a 10 day pass, not an 8 day and a 4 day pass. Look into point to point rather than a rail pass. German Rail has some awesome deals and the 11 yo will travel for free rather that half price with a rail pass.
