Rail passes from Paris to Wengen to London

Is it better to use French: Switzerland Eurail pass or point to point Paris to Basel then Swiss Transfer ticket to Wengen and back out with air travel from Geneva to Lomdon in Sept? Thx, B Neal

Save yourself money and headaches and just avoid Eurail altogether. You can buy those TGV tix from Paris to Basel ahead of time at significant discounts...and a seat reservation is included with your ticket unlike with Eurail. You can definitely use a Swiss Transfer Ticket from Basel to Wengen and then from Wengen back to Geneva for your flight to London. However, you should really look into a Swiss Half Fare Card for your Swiss Travels because the HFC will cover all of your transportation in Switzerland at 50% discount. It covers all of your lifts special trains in the Jungfrau all at 50% discount. Your savings on the Jungfrau trip alone will cover the cost of your HFC.

Seat61.com will set you straight on rail passes and much more. First point: Do not assume a rail pass will save money. Start instead by calculating point-to-point ticket prices, allowing that passholders on trains with required reservations have to buy that reservation separately.
