rail pass vs point - point

itinerary: Arrive Zurich by air Aug. 22 & train to Grindlewald,Switzerland/Aug.30 train to Paris, France/Sept. 7 train to Amsterdam, Netherlands/Sept. 19 fly USA We will be in Grindlewald 7 days and plan several day trips (considering a Swiss Card). In Paris we do not plan any day trips. In Amsterdam we have 11 days and plan at least 5-6 day trips. TWO Questions: 1) After reviewing Rick Steves info I think it may be best to purchase A Swiss Card, point to point for the rest of the journey and purchase point-point tickets for day trips in Amsterdam. your thoughts 2) Recommendations for day trips from Amsterdam.
Thanks

I generally suggest a Swiss Pass of some type for Switzerland, then P2P tickets for travel, beyond. It appears that will work well for you. Take a look at the discount tickets from Interlaken to Paris on SBB and compare to TGV-Europa you can often get a great price, at least from Basel, tomParis. Depending on your plans for your time in Grindelwald, you might do well with an 8-day Berner Oberland Pass for 330 CHF. Coverage starts at Luzern so you would buy a ticket from the airport that far ( not expensive). The advantage of the BO Regiopass is that it fully covers some of the lifts around Grindelwald used for hiking and sightseeing, such as First, Pfingstegg, Mannlichen Gondelbahn, etc., as well as train up as far as Kleine Scheidegg from either side. Beyond there up the Jungfraujoch the discount is 50%, as is the Schilthorn above Mürren. So if you plan to use these it might be an advantage. Boats in the area are also covered.

Why so long in Amsterdam,, I would switch some days back to Paris, and do a daytrip to Versailles from there( its only 7 euros each return and 45 minutes and so worth it!) . Also from Paris if you had a few more days there you could do Chartes, Riems, Giverny , Tours for Chateaus, etc etc.
