Is the 5 day Swiss flex pass useful for 5 consecutive days? and Do frequent travelers to Italy prefer buying as you go train tickets vs. passes? The cost seems comparable. Thank you . S.k.

A 5-day Flex pass is expensive---over $100 more than a 3-day Flex. The 3-day pass includes half off the rest of your travel, as long as it is between the first and last day of use of the pass.
Your travel on the 2 additional days would have to be worth more than $50 each day to make the 5-day pass worthwhile.

But whatever you do...DO get some sort of pass for Switzerland. It's an expensive country and some sort of Swiss Pass will definitely save you money.
