If we (me and my husband) are going to Germany, then to Switzerland, then to Austria and then back to Germany with a lot of travel days (about 13) in a 24 day period, which rail passes would you recommend? I'm getting very confused (especially with combining them with all of Switzerland's pass options). I'm also confused as to which Deutche Bahn app to download ( I see 2 or 3 in the app store). Any help of recommendations?
It would help to know how many days you will be in each country, especially Switzerland.
This is the DB app you want:

For Switzerland, you want to use SBB:

For Austria, OBB:

Have you read this article from the Rick Steves site? Might be useful in determining if you really need a pass for all three countries. https://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips/transportation/trains/should-i-get-a-rail-pass
Switzerland has an excellent overall pass system as well as regional passes, so exactly where you are going in Switzerland matters as well.
if you could be more specific by listing expected trips rather than just countries we could be much more help...
