We are an elderly couple departing Civitevechia, Italy (Rome)at the end of our Costa cruise in Jan. 2010. Our next stop is Florence. We're looking for options other than the train because of the difficulty we'll have with getting ourselves and the luggage on the train because of the long walk on the platform, and the steps on the train. We know it's difficult finding porters at the Rome station and anticipate a similar problem upon arrival in the Florence station. Would a bus from Rome be advisable? Where can I get informatin about bus schedules Rome to Florence? Thanks! Roz

Thanks for the advice. We've learned that we can use the "Blue Hall" of Trenitalia which makes provisions for handicapped and/or elderly who need assistance. We'll try that! We're very apprciative of all the help.
