Has anyone used the website to book reservations for train travel? http://www.italiarail.com/
It looks legit, but I wondered before I book reservations from Rome to Venice that it is.
thanks

Lindsay, www.italiarail.com is just fine for purchasing tickets. Just know that they are a broker and the ticket prices are a bit higher than if you purchased the tickets in Rome. Don't freak about missing a train. 19 trains a day depart Rome for Venice. You can easily buy your tickets when you arrive in Rome. Or, pay just a bit more and buy now.
Good to know, I would rather buy a reservation there if I had to, I have a global rail pass and was just looking at the trains that needed reservations and I ran across that itialiarail. Thanks for the info!
Just and FYI, with your Global Pass, you will pay an 15-20 Euro supplemental fee to ride on the Eurostar which is the primary train between Rome and Venice. The 20-Euro fee is for the Alta Velocita train which is their newest and fastest.
Larry, so will that take place of a reservation fee, or will I have to pay a reservation fee also?
Will there be lots of places that will tack on a fee to my global pass? Just so I can be prepared.
That fee will include your reservation.
Lindsay, when you pay a supplemental fee, it will include the seat reservation. The premium trains in most of the countries will charge you something extra to ride on their trains. This is all listed on the Eurail website where you purchased your pass. Also note that there is the occassional private train system that won't accept the pass at all. The Circumvesuviana train from Naples to Sorrento is one. In Switzerland, you only get a 25% discount on the Jungfraubahn and Schilthornbahn, the private train systems in the Lauterbrunnen Valley.
