I'm trying to reserve trains for travel from Paris (by night..looks like that is Elipsos), to Barcelona, then a day time return from Barcelona back to Paris. point to point. Trying to go through the TGV website. Every time I try to select the return (regardless of class or time, it get the message "Technical error." What am I doing wrong? I am looking at dates of April 7, returning to Paris April 18.

Not sure if this is the problem, but the "day trains" do not go directly between Barcelona and Paris; you have to change at Figueres. You may have to buy the Barcelona to Figueres leg from RENFE (might be easier to do this in spain than online), and then the rest of the ticket from Figueres. Try doing your retrun to Paris from Figueres instead of Barcelona and see if that works.

Hi Joy. I'm normally a big proponent of trains, but for this trip you also might want to compare pros and cons of flying. Easy Jet is a reputable airline that flies between CDG and Barcelona; obviously you would have to factor in extra time to get to and from airport...

Joy, I would suggest this from Paris-Barcelona: take the TGV direct from Paris (leaves from Gare de Lyon) to Perpignan, 5 hrs, either stay the night or continue with the local trains to Barcelona. I would stay the night, depending upon your time constraint, and start with the local trains to Barcelona in the morning. The TGV goes back to Paris direct from Perpignan too.
