Can I still get a RailEurope Rail Pass when I've already left home and am staying in France? I'm living in Grenoble for a month and didn't want to buy a railpass before I left home since I didn't know where I would be traveling to. This weekend I ended up booking connecting trains to Brussels and it ended up costing me 225euros! That's almost the same price as a 2 country pass from RailEurope - $349CAD. I've read a lot of people saying not to buy on RailEurope and that it's just a travel agency that charges more for the tickets...
Well I was thinking of still buying a pass, if it's possible.. since I've already left my home country (Canada) for the rest of my trips that I have planned.
It's not a RailEurope rail pass. The passes are issued by Eurail, a joint effort of European national railroads to package and market rail passes, and sometimes by the individual railroad, themselves. RailEurope is just a No. American distributor of Eurail passes. Their rail pass prices are competitive (can't say as much for their ticket and reservation prices). That said, I know there are "aid offices" in major stations in Germany where non-Europeans can purchase rail passes. The prices might not be quite as good as over here. This, www.eurail.com/eurail-faq-buy-in-europe, is what Eurail has to say about it.
