we are in paris for 7 days. one of those days is earmarked for versailles. son in law realllllllllly wants to go to countryside and mont san michel. if we rent a car near paris (maybe the train station at montparnasse?...which is open until 9pm on Fridays) and drive to hit rennes, vitre, fougeres and mont san michel...focusing on the small towns and then back to paris car turn in by 9pm...can we do it? is it worth it? another option, but more expensive is to train it to rennes and rent car there (but not sure if car rental place is open past 5pm? thinking that is more expensive (but less wear and tear on my husband who would be driving)
open to suggestions....thanks!
Maybe. If you don't get out of the car. Really, I can't recommend this plan.
i was afraid of that :(
You can do it easily if you make it an overnight. The train is not more expensive once you factor in gas and tolls necessarily. It's also less expensive if your son-in-law and daughter split up and do it on their own. Since they're the ones who want to see it, right? But yeah, it would make more sense as an overnight trip, training to brittany or normandy and renting a car from there.
