Question - Wire Cable With Padlock

I have been searching for a wire cable with padlock, to secure my suitcase to train storage racks. I've visited a number of hardware stores, but all of the cables were bulky and heavy. Should I be searching somewhere else, possibly a travel website?

Easily found in sporting goods stores and bike stores.

Got mine at REI (you can order online if a store is not near you) - but likely you can find similar in any luggage store or maybe at a place like Cabela's or even Walmart/Target.

hi Lamont
Based on the good reviews on Amazon I recently purchased a Master Lock 3 ft retractable cable lock.
It is abt 3 oz!

Steves sells them at his Travel Store (see above) ; the cable's a bit short but has a combination lock and with a bit of effort will enable securing to train racks (or two bags together to at least slow down the buggers intent on thievery). We're off tomorrow for a month with one lock apiece, will post how they worked.

I got a free gun lock from the local police. worked great. I don't own a gun.

Aircraft grade braided wire. You can get it at most hardware stores that I have and it is almost impossible to get through without some serious tools (it just smooshes instead of cutting with wire cutters). It is very light and would serve well for your requirements if you figure out some way to create loops on the end.

Thanks for all of the great information. I was probably seeing bicycle cable locks in those hardware stores, which accounts for their bulk and weight. The suggestions listed above are much more travel-friendly.

Look for locks where they sell luggage. I think I picked mine up at a AAA. Alternatively look at an REI type store that sells backpacks, they are likely to have a variety of travel locks available.

You might try the Pacsafe Retractsafe 200 retractable cable lock. I've used an older model to good effect. It's compact, all-in-one, and travels well...www.pacsafe.com
