Question understanding train schedule

I'm trying to find a train schedule and price on Trenitalia. I want to leave Venice and arrive in Florence on Sept. 26. All I seem to get is a train that leaves at 3:00 in the morning for a three hour journey to Florence. Am I reading that correct? I want to leave sometime in the morning, but not 3AM! I'd love some help, thank you!

Suaan, the Trenitalia website will not show train schedules more than 90 days out. Use a date closer in and it will work. There are nice Eurostars leaving Venice for Florence throughout the day.

CLICK HERE to see a schedule for next week. Trenitalia will change schedules every 90 days or so but you can bet that these runs won't change much. Also, the fare for 2nd class is 36.30Euro.

Note also that you want to depart from Venezia Santa Lucia. Other fast trains leave from Mestre which is an 11-minute ride to the mainland from Venezia Santa Lucia. The schedule that I provided shows only Venezia S.L.

Thank you so much for the help Larry. One more question: How would I know what train station I would want to leave from or even go to? Other than the city, I would have no idea.

Thanks again!

Susan....Trenitalia will actually only book 60 days out, but you . In Venice, the main train station is Venice Santa Lucia, labelled as "VE S.L." on the website. The train station farther out that Larry mentioned is Mestre, labelled as "MESTRE." You will see that some trains start at the main Santa Lucia station, then go thru Mestre on their way out...others only start at Mestre. In Florence, there are three train stations they use. "FI.SMN" is the main station in downtown Florence, Santa Maria Novella. "FI RIFR" is Florence-Rifredi, while "FI C.M." is Florence Campo di Marti. Both are suburban stations, but from either you can catch a 5 minute ride aboard a local commuter train to get to SMN, if necessary. IC Plus trains will be a little cheaper than ES or Altara expresses, but take a little longer. Look for the Amica fares when booking...20% off the regular price.
