I am planning a trip and am going to use just 1 travel pack which I plan to carry-on. Thinking of purchasing one of those bicycle type cable locks to use once in Europe to secure my bag to hostel beds, train racks etc...
My question, are cable locks an allowed item on board? The one Im thinking of getting is approx. 4-6 foot. steel braided, plastic coated cable with the eyelets at the ends for the lock.
I include one of those cable locks in my carry-on luggage so I can cable up our carry-ons while we wait anywhere along our way. I have had different reactions from TSA at different airports and at the same airport which have been "no reacation" to "searching out the cable in the carry-on". When it has been questioned, I have explained its use and have always been allowed to pass by with it.
Good luck and happy travels.
We have always carried on a couple of cable locks with no problems.
Thanks for the feedback folks
