We will be traveling to Athens, Greece from the USA in the early Fall. My understanding is that upon arrival in Athens, we will need to use/register for the new EU entry requirements as opposed to just present our passports to enter the country.
My first question is- do we need to do anything in advance for this? I have seen other bloggers state this new entry system takes some time to get through and that a new certification was required which needs to be applied for prior to leaving the USA.
My second question has to do with our flight from Greece to Germany after our Greece tour. We will be flying from Athens to Hamburg via a connecting flight in Munich. Since we will have already entered the EU via Greece and used the new entry system, will we again need to do the set up in Munich? I’ve seen traveler complaints of hours long wait times to get through the passport control in Germany- and we don’t want to miss our connecting flight to Hamburg.
My third question has to do with my Global Entry card. My passport expired and I recently got my new passport in time for my upcoming trip. My Global Entry card is a few years old and I got it when my previous passport was still valid. My question is can I continue to use my current Global Entry card or do I need to have it updated and tied to my new passport?
Any and all comments and recommendations are much appreciated.
Thank you all in advance!
