Question on UK Friends and Family Rail Card

My family (of 6) will be in London in Sept. for 1 week. We're planning a day trip to Bath and to see Windsor. The Family and Friends card looks like it offers good train discounts. It's £26. Has anyone had any experience with the card they would be willing to share? Is it a good value for just a week? thanks,

The Family and Friends card is intended for long-term use and you definitely won't make the money back on just two trips. The trip to Bath will be much cheaper if you book in advance (although this ties you to specific departure times in each direction), and these advance fares often don't have any further discounts for rail cards. Windsor won't have an advance discount because it's in the suburban network, but it shouldn't be too expensive anyway.

If you book well in advance at www.eastcoast.co.uk, you can get a discount fare as low as £9.50 each way for London Paddington-Bath Spa. Discount fare tickets go on sale 10-12 weeks in advance. Your tickets will be for a specific departure date and time and are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. A same-day return (roundtrip) ticket from London to Windsor costs £10.00. Tickets are good on any train.
