Question on Carseats for Public Transit in UK

Our family will be traveling next year to England and Scotland with our children who will be 5 and 1.5 years-old. I'm planning on doing the entire trip without a car rental.

Does anyone know if child car seats are required/recommended in buses or taxis? I'm assuming they are not needed on trains or the tube.

Thanks,
Erica

This is most of interest in taxis. City buses will probably not have seat belts to strap the car seat anyway. While I agree that a car seat is always the safest, these things are quite heavy to transport around. I will rely on buses and trains and avoid the use of taxis or use them as little as possible and leave the car seats at home. Buses and trains are most likely safest.
