Question about parking at ATL

We'll be leaving from Atlanta International terminal for two weeks in Europe. On the way home, we'll fly through JFK where we'll clear customs. Then separate flight back to ATL. So, out of the international terminal, in to the domestic terminal. We'll have checked bags. The other relevant piece of information is that we'll land back in Atlanta somewhat late. Around 7 pm.
The question is, given all that, where is the best place to park long term?

Thanks in advance for any/all help!

Just for the economics of it, check out several of the off site parking areas. They are all about the same, and much cheaper than parking at the airport. Getting back to the car should not be a problem as they all have shuttle buses. At 7 p.m. this time of year there will still be plenty of daylight, so there shouldn't be any safety concerns. A google search will give you several options.

Are you flying DL or one of their partners?

If so I’d recommend one of the lots on Camo Creek Parkway (either Preflight or Park n Fly) Another alternative is ATL West which has a train to the terminal.

Parking rates at ATL just went up which is why I’d do the offsite lots

All these options take you to the domestic terminal. If flying Delta or a partner you can check your bags at domestic for your international flight. From there you just take the plane train to your international gate.

Now if you are flying another carrier ATL made it harder if you are checking. Personally I’d still park on the domestic side. You have to take the world’s worst shuttle to international to check your bag but I’d rather take it on departure than when I’m exhausted after a flight home.

I think Park n Fly does a shuttle to international it is very infrequent compared to the nonstop domestic shuttle

Oh and I’d book a reservation. The closing of the south economy lot means parking is at a premium

Thank you Carol and TC. This is very helpful. It looks like off-site is the best option. And I agree with you Carol. Domestic seems to be the smart move. That way, once we land we can easily make it to the car and head home after a VERY long day. Much appreciated!

Do you live in the Atlanta area? I live here and never, ever do long term parking at the airport. Two weeks of parking will cost more than an Uber directly to/from your home. And it is much easier to just hop on an Uber right there at the terminal after your long flight than to take a shuttle to an offsite parking lot and then drive home. We're flying to Naples in Sept and will get a family member to drop us off, and return home in Lyft or Uber.

(PS....if don't actually live with Uber distance of the airport, that is another story, that's why I asked if you lived in the Atlanta area.)
