Be interesting to see the pricing as there are a lot fewer seats to cover the fixed overhead costs.

I wonder if they studied some sort of 'suspended animation' along with the "keep you awake and exercising" approach.
New category of "FA" 'flight anesthesiologist'. Sort of like 2001 , a bit late.

Yeah, I'd be spending a lot of time in the wellness zone. I would also hope the flight crew has a place to lie down for a few hours. 19 hours is way too long imo to be mentally sharp.

All modern widebody planes offer crew rest bunks, usually tucked into the void above the overhead bins. Even on the relatively short transatlantic flights from the east coast pilots and flight attendants will take turns having a break, and maybe a nap.

Currently QF 5, a 787 departs Perth (PER) @ 22.50 and lands FCO @ 08.50, 16 hours. And then, andiamo, presto. Yet to try it. Only for the northern summer. Mostly during night for sleeping.

Also, QF 9, also a 787, departs PER @ 18.45 and lands LHR 05.05, 17 Hrs 45 mins. Every day all year. For northern summer one can board in Perth in the evening, eat and sleep, have the chauffer collect one in the Bentley and deliver one fresh for start of play day 1 of Ashes Test at Lords or The Oval. What more could one want. (Maybe a Gold Coast meter maid as a valet.)

The new aircraft seats in the article, are for 12 special Airbus A350 LR’s for flights from Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane to either London or similar in Europe or New York, Chicago, or similar USA east coast. Other unique features are to be built into the aircraft. First, bus and prem econ seats have already been shown to us. Will no doubt make their way into other long range as refurbishment occurs. Biz is my wife’s only choice, actually a demand, and hence probably will not have the pleasure of the econ seats. Such is life.

Just this week Qantas commenced QF 3. Sydney to Auckland, then depart ALK @ 16.35 nonstop to New York land 16.50, 787, (a quick 25mins?) 16 hrs 15 mins. By passes the quagmire at LAX. So, leave in the afternoon fly for a few hours through night and arrive late afternoon same day? Mostly daylight flying. That would be interesting. I would suspect a massive jetlag after that one. NYC to AKL would be better.

So, our flight crews are already flying these times.

Price. If one chooses to live in paradise at the bottom of the planet, one has to wear it. For tourists, there will be other slower and cheaper options.

Emirates, Qatar, and Etihad already have a wellness zone. It is the bar at 13,000 metres, especially in the 380’s. A bar by any other name is sweet.
